Another location from the 2010 movie LARRY CROWNE is the condo of Julia Roberts character (Mercedes) who was Larry's Speech teacher at the Community College. On this porch, a very memorable scene took place between Julia and Tom Hanks. Again, I loved Larry Crowne - even though the reviews were not that great. I have now found several of the locations from the film. I watched the movie a second time (at the theatre) looking for clues for filming locations. It makes me happy when movies are filmed locally. High in the Hollywood Hills, is this apartment from the movie Rain Man. At the end of the movie, Charlie (Tom Cruise) brought Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) back to Los Angeles with him. This is where they were living. I read online somewhere that there is still a picture of Tom Cruise in the laundry room from that time.

I loved the 2010 Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts movie LARRY CROWNE. It didn't get good reviews, but personally I enjoyed it alot. This filming location from the movie is in Altadena. It is where Talia opened her shop...and also where Larry (Tom) lived at the end of the movie. The top picture was taken from the internet...showing the actual filming. The bottom three pictures I took on Saturday. I had done research on line and found several of the filming locations for this movie, I but never found this location. Fortunately, Iamnotastalker.com blogged about it last week and I was able to get the address and add it to my Stalking list of Pasadena.

Charlie and Raymond (RAIN MAN) spent their first night away from Walbrook at the Vernon Manor Hotel . It is located at 400 Oak Street in Cincinnati. That is the address that Ray uses for the K Mart where he wants to go buy underwear. The interior shots at the hotel were filmed on a set built in Cincinnati. The hotel closed its doors in March of 2009.

I saw the DDD (Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives) episode featuring Jersey Cafe in Carmel, Indiana and I knew I had to check it out for myself. The food looked great on television and I was not disappointed. I must admit, I was a little nervous because when I read the reviews on the place, most of them said long wait and slow...but while in Indiana over the holidays, my family and I decided to try it for ourselves. I am happy to say....I loved the place. The portions were huge and food was delicious. We waited about 15 minutes to get a seat (the place is small) and once seated, the food did take about 30 minutes to get to us (5 of us). The choices from the menu were numerous. For starters, we got the homemade potato chips loaded with cheeses, bacon, onions, and BBQ sauce. They were wonderful. I got the turkey sandwich with 2 different cheeses served on cheese bread. It was one of the best sandwiches I ever ate. I would definately eat there again.

Another location from Rain Main is the restaurant where Raymond counts the toothpicks that the waitress drops. The picture right above shows the exact spot where that happened. The Italian restaurant Pompilo's is in Newport, KY. Pictured above is my friend LeAnne. She and Shauna were with me on my tour of Cincinnati. The mural above which hangs on the wall in the restaurant reminds everyone that Rain Man was filmed there.

In the 1988 movie RAIN MAN, Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) was confined to this institution. His brother Charlie (Tom Cruise) takes him from here after learning their father left Raymond all the money in his will. In reality, this is St. Anne's Convent in Melbourne, KY (about 15 minutes from Cincinnati). When we turned onto the road, we recognized the building immediately. I can still see Tom and Dustin walking down the long drive.

Terry's Turf Club was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.....so when I spent the day in Cincinnati on Saturday, my friends and I stopped in. The reviews said they are always crowded and to be prepared for a long wait, however, we lucked out. When we got there about 1:45 pm, there was a parking spot out front and no waiting. The place is small. We sat at the bar. The staff was warm and friendly and called you by name. We met Terry - he's a real character. I ordered the BLT. The bacon was thick and crispy and wonderful. My friends got a cheeseburger and a crabcake burger. They were huge and wonderful as well. This place is a real find...so worth the drive to Cincinnati! I'd go back over and over if I lived closer.

El Segundo High School - El Segundo, CA

El Segundo High School has also been used for filming. I was most exited to read that one of my favorite "old" shows ROOM 222 was filmed at this location. In the 1969 - 1974 tv series, the show focused around an American History class that met in Room 222. Pete Dixon (Lloyd Haynes) was an African American school teacher who taught his class lessons in tolerance and understanding. Other shows filmed here include: War Games, Superbad, and Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

I have seen it before but this time I decided to photograph it and do a little research. This image brings the male and female together into one figure. It represents two opposite types of performers: the formal classical ballet dancer and the traditional street performer. Some people think this sculpture is in poor taste but if you have ever walked on the Venice Boardwalk you realize this ballerina clown seems to fit right in.

He was very nice and didn't ask us to leave. I asked him if he knew David Duchovny and he shook his head NO with a big smile.

Long Beach Airport - Long Beach, CA

The Long Beach airport is MY airport. I try to make all my flights out of this location because its close to home and very small. There is generally only one or two planes loading at a time so the security line is never long. Recently, I found out that it has also been a filming location. In 1947, the final scene of The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer (Gary Grant, Myrna Loy, and Shirley Temple) was filmed here. The 1998 remake of the movie THE PARENT TRAP was filmed here instead of the Napa Valley airport. And, the opening scenes of CLOCKSTOPPERS on Nickelodeon was also shot here in 2002. So, now I have more reasons to love Long Beach Airport.

It's really worth the drive to see this unusual home.

This restaurant OFF STREET CAFE was recently featured on the Food Network program RESTAURANT IMPOSSIBLE. Chef Robert Irvine came to the restaurant and helped Rose and Robin (owners for the last nine years) turn the place into a top notch restaurant. The place has gone through ups and downs over the years. The makeover for $10,000 and 36 hours of being closed took place in July of this year. I've been wanting to try it out and today, my friends from work and I had breakfast here. It was delicious. I had the begian waffle with strawberries and a side order of bacon. There were 7 of us, so we tried many of the dishes on the menu and no one was disappointed. The servers were friendly and courteous and the food was great. I definately will be going back.

Closing out Halloween week, I am going to repost the Poltergeist House...

In 1982 one of the scariest movies was made. It was called Poltergeist and it revolved around a normal family who was living the American dream in a beautiful housing development in California. Steven Freeling (Craig T. Nelson) was a successful real estate agent and he lived in this development of Cuesta Verde with his wife (JoBeth Williams) and their 3 children (Dominique Dunne, Oliver Robbins and Heather O'Rourke).

Strange things began when the youngest - Carol Anne - started sleepwalking and carried on conversations with the TV set that was not on. They're here.......are the famous words she uttered later that night as the family was awakened by an earthquake that only they felt.

You get the point..it was scary. My friends Leyla and Carole and I made the drive to Simi Valley to see this house in person. We were not disappointed. It doesn't look mysterious really, but seeing it brought up the frightening feelings.

Huntington Beach High School is said to be haunted by George the Ghost. A long time ago, George and his girlfriend auditioned for the parts of Romeo and Juliet in the school play. His girlfriend got the part of Juliette, but he was not cast as Romeo. She fell in love with the actor who portrayed Romeo and George was heart broken and hung himself in the rafters on Opening Night. For decades now, George has haunted the theatre.....breaking things and making unusual noises.

This week I saw IDES OF MARCH at the theatre. I can honestly say I loved it. A few months back, a friend Joshua Puthoff was in Oxford, Ohio ...Miami University...while they were filming. Above are a few of the pics he took. I love how he got himself in the pictures with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti. Ryan Gossling is in the third picture. Unfortunately, he didn't get a picture of George Clooney, but George portrayed Governor Morris in the movie and above was his campaign bus from the film. Great work Josh! This Eagle Rock house was used in the 1996 movie BLACK SHEEP. This is another location I found on my favorite blog IAMNOTASTALKER.COM and decided to check it out for myself on my trip to Eagle Rock. Black Sheep starred Chris Farley from Saturday Night Live fame.

Bugatti Veyron - Malibu, CA

Simon Cowell and his car from a magazine......

While driving on Rodeo Drive last week, I spotted this unusual looking car. I'd never seen one like it before. After checking online, I saw it was a Bugatti Veyron and Simon Cowell drives one.

Simon and his black one is pictured above (I did not see this in person). The yellow and black one was drawing lots of attention on Rodeo Drive. There were several people standing close by taking pictures.

Hoosiers - Knightstown, IN

This picture was posted on a website from Knightstown, Indiana - my hometown. It reminded me that my hometown WAS a filming location. The movie HOOSIERS - one of the best basketball movies ever made (in my opinion anyway) was used as the home gym in the movie. This is the same location where I attended 6th grade. I had already moved away from Knightstown when the movie was filmed but I went back and watched some of the filming. I remember taking my grandma with me and sitting in the bleachers (the opposite side of the gym of this picture). We even met Gene Hackman. He was very sweet to my grandma. It is a very special memory for me.

Biggest Loser Ranch - near Malibu,CA

This week my boss was in town from North Carolina. He is a Biggest Loser fan, so I took him to the Ranch. I have been there several times, but always enjoy going back. This time.....they were doing some filming. We saw several contestants from about 20 yards away. I really couldn't make out who they were, but it was fun seeing them. One of the crew members was watching us closely to make sure we didn't take any pictures of the people. I promised him I wouldn't because I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but I'm pretty sure he didn't believe me. We snapped a couple pictures and then headed out. After we drove off, the contestants walked into the Gym.

Here is another location that I found thanks to SeeingStars.com and his wonderful Dexter Locations Pages. In Season 6, Episode 1 Dexter goes to his high school reunion. The reunion is held here. There were some really funny scenes with Dexter fitting in with his high school class members. My personal favorite scene was Hammertime....He also played football with some of the guys....very funny....

I watched Dexter - Season 6, Episode 1 on U tube this weekend. I don't get Showtime, so normally I have to wait for Netflix to rent the whole season. Dexter withdrawls are terrible, so I was excited to see I could watch at least the first episode....and boy was it good. After watching it, I went to the SeeingStars website...Dexter Locations section and found a few good locations that appeared in the first show and headed out to take a look for myself. The first one I wanted to see was Harrison's Pre School. I remember ONLOCATIONVACATION website posting pictures a few months ago of the filming outside of a school. Now I know ..this was it. I sure wish I would see the actual filming instead of looking later....but maybe one of these days!

Last Wednesday , a tragic event took place near my home. 8 people were killed when an ex-husband angry over a custody battle went into this Salon and shot his stylist ex-wife . Before he finished the rampage, 8 people had lost their lives. It is so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. I went over on Friday morning to pay my respects.

Fred C. Nelles Youth Correctional Facility declared bankruptcy in 2004. It is currently used for filming in the TV and movie industry. Shows that have been filmed here include: Blow and Prison Break. I spoke with the security guard while I snapped a couple of pictures and he told me the movie company was there today doing some prep work for a new film called DECODING OF ANNIE PARKER. I had never heard of it, but after doing some online research, I found out its an independent film and Helen Hunt has just signed on to play the lead. I'll be watching for that!

Former Denny's Restaurant - Buena Park, CA

This use to be a Denny's Restaurant in Buena Park. Now its just an empty rundown building. Recently, I was doing some online research for movies filmed in Buena Park. This location came up from the 2000 movie LUCKY NUMBERS starring John Travolta and Lisa Kudrow. I remember the movie but not too much about it. I guess I wasn't that impressed. Anyway, this was used for interior restaurant shots. I can't help wondering why they came all the way to Buena Park to find a Denny's??????

My friend Julia loves Cabo Fish Taco and when she heard it had been on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, she snapped a couple of pictures for me. I got a call from one of my friends last week and she informed me there was filming in Huntington Harbor at Don the Beachcomber Restaurant. By time I got there nothing was happening, but I did some research online to get some details. There is a new show coming on Fox this year called THE FINDER starring Geoff Stults (formerly of 7th Heaven) I read its a spin-off of BONES. I have never seen Bones, but you can bet I will be looking for THE FINDER to check out what I missed in person and who knows....maybe they'll come back to DON THE BEACHCOMBER's for more filming.

Also under NORWALK, CALIFORNIA in Wikipedia, this Greyhound Bus Station on Front Street is listed as being on the TV series HEROS in 2007. The shops on this street are mostly empty storefronts, so it would be easy for filming crews to set up any kind of stores they need. The 2001 movie FRAILITY and the 1999 movie LIFE also shot scenes at this Greyhound Bus Station.

I work in Cerritos and I was checking Wikipedia to see what movies were filmed in specific cities. Norwalk is close by and I found several movies listed as being filmed there. Golf N' Stuff was listed as the filming location for three projects. The most notable was the 1984 movie THE KARATE KID. Flipping the channels on the TV one day last week, I happened to catch the movie and the scene filmed at the Arcade here. I decided it was time for a visit. The place is right off the 605 Freeway on Firestone Blvd. Besides KARATE KID, this location was used in Avril Lavigne's 2006 GIRLFRIEND video and Korn's 1995 SHOOTS AND LADDERS video .

A few weeks ago, I went to Occidental College where several movies and TV shows have been filmed. Unfortunately when we got there, we realized it was Orientation for the new school year. It was crowded and loud, so we got a few pics and then went on our way. One of my fav movies of 2010 was filmed here.....The Kids Are All Right. The college stands in for Stanford University in the film. Other movies filmed on the campus include: Star Trek III, Clueless, Orange County, and THE HOLIDAY (another fav of mine, but I can't remember a scene on a college campus so I need to re-watch the film). TV shows filmed here over the years include: Beverly Hills 90210, Dragnet, The West Wing, Nip/Tuck, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Rizzoli & Isles and numerous others.

I saw MONEYBALL with Brad Pitt this weekend and LOVED IT! This was one of my very favorite Brad Pitt movies. He was extra good in this. I was looking for locations online and found out that some of the scenes were filmed at Cal State Long Beach's Blair Field. So, naturally, I ran right out to get some pictures. Unfortunately, Brad Pitt wasn't sitting in the bleachers..but he had been there. If you haven't seen MONEYBALL, I highly recommend it...

My Hoosier correspondents - Morgan and John Boyne - recently visited another restaurant from the Food Network show DINERS, DRIVE-INS, and DIVES. Blue Ash Chili is in Cincinnati, Ohio. Guy visited in June of 2010. Above are the pictures they took. John had Chili Guy's Way and a Chili dog. Morgan had the slaw dog. They shared Jalapeno Poppers. They report that the food was good and inexpensive. Who doesn't like a deal?

Fake McDonalds - City of Industry, CA

Another interesting location I found on RoadsideAmerica.com is this fake McDonalds. It's in a business park behind locked gates in City of Industry. The site says that almost all the commericals and movies where you see a McDonalds is really this location. There are adjustable McD signs on wheels so they can be shot from different angles. There is a warehouse behind it that I assume is full of furniture, uniforms, and maybe even playground equipment. When I read about this, I knew it was someplace I had to see. I was not disappointed.

Donut Hole - La Puente, CA

I ran across this website RoadsideAmerica.com: Your online guide to Offbeat Tourist Attractions. One of the attractions was The Donut Hole. It's at the corner of Amar Road and Hacienda Blvd in La Puente and it is very unique. It was built in 1968 and the two hollow ends are fiberglass made to look like giant donuts. It's a drive thru too. You drive into the donut and give your order...then drive out. I had a chocolate frosted donut and it was very good.

Bridge GONE IN 60 SECONDS - San Pedro, CA

Finn Hudson took Rachel Berry on a date here AND Mr. Shu and April Rhodes (Kristin Chenoweth) bowled and sang in the cocktail lounge. The bowling alley is in Eagle Rock not far from Eagle Rock Plaza and Auntie Em's. Iamnotastalker.com is where this location was posted. I saw it and just had to check it out for myself.

I saw Auntie Em's on the Food Network show SUGAR HIGH. While watching it, I knew this was someplace I had to see for myself. So, on a recent visit to Eagle Rock...I stopped by. It was crowded and crazy and there was very little parking on the street. One taste of their giant thin and crispy and chewy chocolate chip cookie and it was all worth it. They are delicious. We also sampled the mini carrot cake cupcakes. They too were great. I plan to visit again for breakfast, but I will do it first thing in the morning so the lines aren't so long.

I love the tv show GLEE - except for one of its stars. I won't mention her name, but I think she is really full of herself and I have a hard time watching while she is performing. That being said, the rest of the cast I totally adore. I love the singing and dancing as well as the story lines. One of my favorite episodes was DREAM ON. It's the one where wheel chair bound Artie dreamed that he could dance. They performed the song here at Eagle Rock Plaza by the escalators. It was a great scene. The mall is very small and I was surprised to see how small the performing area was as well. The top picture is a screen shot from the show.
